Completed installation of horizontal capacitor banks of 8 220kV transformer stations, ready to ensure electricity for the Northern region from the hot season of 2024

On the morning of April 28, 2024, the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) completed the installation of 8/8 horizontal capacitors at the 220kV transformer station in the Northern region under the project “Installation of power transmission grid capacitors Northern region in 2024”. Completion of the Project makes an important contribution to ensuring electricity for the Northern region in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister and Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).

  Efforts to overcome difficulties

The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), NPTPMB represents the investor to directly manage and implement the project. This is a level II, group B energy project with a total investment of nearly 190 billion VND implemented at 8 220kV transformer stations in 7 provinces/cities which are major load centers including: Long Bien 220kV substation (Hanoi), Quang Chau (Bac Giang), Kim Dong, Yen My (Hung Yen), Thanh Nghi (Ha Nam), Bac Ninh 3 (Bac Ninh), Vinh Tuong (Vinh Phuc) and Hai Ha (Quang Ninh)

The project has the scale of installing 07 110kV -50MVAr horizontal capacitor banks and equipment to complete feeders at 220kV substations Long Bien, Quang Chau, Kim Dong, Yen My, Thanh Nghi, Bac Ninh 3, Vinh Tuong and 01 horizontal capacitor bank 110kV – 25MVAr and equipment to complete the feeder at Hai Ha 220kV substation (total compensation capacity 375MVA).

Mr. Vo Luong Nhan – Deputy Director of NPTPMB said: During the project implementation process, NPTPMB and construction contractors encountered many challenges. According to plan, the project will be completed in May 2024. However, to support ensuring the voltage is within the allowable limits of the power transmission grid in the Northern region, meeting the power demand for important loads in the region as well as enhancing power supply stability, reducing loss of capacity and electricity in the system. EVNNPT has requested that the project be completed early and put into operation before April 30, 2024. Along with that, implementing projects at existing transformer stations when constructing in conditions where nearby equipment is energized requires absolute safety

Under the direction of the Corporation, NPTPMB has proposed solutions to complete the goal of meeting the progress and requirements of EVN and EVNNPT such as updating the construction and installation schedule; The project director holds daily briefings and has a detailed schedule; Grasp the specific schedule to keep abreast with suppliers as well as construction contractors; Set up a daily and hourly management team on the construction site to promptly resolve problems…

NPTPMB has made detailed plans for each stage, each item, detailed to each job, every day, project implementation staff closely follow the detailed operating schedule, board leaders, and functional department leaders. always ready to directly direct, ensuring no interruptions.

NPTPMB and other units participating in the project have focused resources, increased human resources and construction machinery; Organizing construction in 3 shifts, 4 crews, throughout holidays to meet the schedule of completing energizing capacitor banks according to the assigned schedule

Strengthen electricity security for the North

Mr. Vo Luong Nhan – Deputy Director of NPTPMB said: During the project implementation process, NPTPMB always received the direction of EVNNPT’s leaders and the support of relevant departments and units of the Corporation. Along with that is the tireless efforts of the staff, the NPTPMB Board of Directors as well as the coordination of relevant units in project management. During project implementation, the pressure on resources, schedule as well as implementation geography pushed NPTPMB to make every effort to complete the project ahead of schedule

The early completion of the project helps ensure that the voltage is within the allowable limits of the power transmission grid in the Northern region, meeting the power needs of important loads in the region. Increase power supply stability, reduce capacity and power loss in the system, improve production and business efficiency of Vietnam Electricity Group. In particular, this is also one of the results of the Corporation in contributing to ensuring electricity supply for the North from this year’s hot season under the direction of the Prime Minister and EVN.

NPTPMB completed the installation of 8/8 horizontal capacitor banks, ahead of schedule compared to EVNNPT’s direction

The completion of the project is the result of the close and timely direction of EVNNPT, the long-term emulation efforts on the construction site of NPTPMB, of the contractors, the close coordination and always ready Ready to arrange acceptance of Power Transmission Company 1, contributing to long-term stable electricity supply for the Northern region.

The completion of the project also affirms NPTPMB’s implementation capacity for projects with urgent nature, tight implementation time, complex techniques and simultaneous construction at many locations.
